PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Monitor Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patients cardiac rhythms. Provides nurses with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening arrhythmias. Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of activities related to monitoring telemetry tracings.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL
Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, LICENSE: Licensed through the State of Louisiana. CPR Certification required. ACLS within 1 year of hire date
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 year experience is desired
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of basic computer skills, medical terminology and organizational skills; good communication skills.
EKG Class completion required.
Knowledge in telemetry monitoring, EKG interpretation and recognizing life threatening arrhythmias.
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS KNOWLEDGE: Computers and other office equipment as it relates to job. Safety equipment as it relates to job. Medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand and walk for lengthy periods of time. Must be able to lift using proper body mechanics.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
