Chart management-related SLAs largely involve chart availability and quality assurance (QA).
The HIM Manager monitors these metrics at a cadence that ensures Savista's performance is sustained to meet or beat goal and takes appropriate action if the SLAs will not be met.
The other applicable Job Purpose involves colleague management.
The HIM Manager directly manages all members of the chart management team assigned to his/her client(s).
Colleague management includes, but is not limited to, hiring and onboarding new colleagues, managing direct reports' educational deadlines, scheduling, monitoring performance metrics, coaching and counseling, evaluating performance, driving effective workflow allocation matrices, delivering standard and ad hoc reports, sustaining chart management function knowledge of assigned client site(s), managing to the labor budget, and facilitating client communications.
Finally, the HIM Manager provides health information advice and guidance to the chart management team, clients, their patients, and Savista management.
The HIM Manager is steadfast in ensuring health information integrity within the electronic medical record (EMR) is continuously maintained.
This management position is 100% billable.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Manages staffing and performance management of the Medical Record Specialists, Data Integrity Specialist, and, if applicable, the HIM Lead.
This includes, but is not limited to, hiring, onboarding, timecard approval, scheduling, coaching and counseling, monitoring performance-related metrics, completing annual performance evaluations, and terminating a colleague's employment.
Creates and monitors the chart management function's implementation, from pre-planning to steady state, as applicable and in collaboration with other Savista service launches involving the same client.
Manages the successful performance of and reports on this performance for each assigned client's chart management-related SLAs.
Ensures that chart management operations are compliant with current government and/or accrediting agency rules and regulations as applicable to the client site.
Maintains effective relationships and daily communications with appropriate client stakeholders.
Performs semiannual staffing analyses to ensure each assigned client's chart management team is optimally staffed and takes appropriate action on the results.
Drives the talent acquisition process to minimize year over year vacancy rate.
Justifies turnover outcomes with information about colleague upward movement or other such facts.
Collaborates with peers to ensure in-house chart management talent or other qualified Savista colleagues are optimally employed.
Identifies and mitigates shift coverage gaps, briefing the HIM Director on how weekly budgeted hours are affected.
Trains new colleagues as well as performs effective ongoing training for chart management colleagues in such a way that SLA outcomes are accurately achieved.
Serves as the chart management team's first point of contact for schedule matters as well as answering questions regarding how to perform tasks.
Oversees supply management in the HIM Department, delegating associated tasks appropriately as applicable.
Enters performance metrics data into analytics-based applications.
Informs the HIM Director of chart management team performance outcomes in the requested manner as well as presents project plans regarding opportunities for process improvement.
