Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products Division is seeking qualified individuals for the Maintenance Training Specialist opportunity for the Port Hudson consumer products manufacturing operation located in Zachary, LA . Through passion for training excellence and skills development; the Maintenance Training Specialist will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, developing, and implementing training needs for the maintenance department.
Responsibilities :
o Capable and knowledgeable in mechanical and awareness of electrical to act as the mill trainer on these skills
o Apply and drive Market-Based Management (MBM ) principles throughout the organization
o Facilitate training done by 3rd parties and develop training curriculum
o Ability to communicate and work with 3rd party vendors and trade schools to help formulate and execute curriculum activities.
o Expectation of balancing the needs of the facility while continuing the training efforts.
o Working with plant maintenance scheduler to ensure that the right people are in the right classes
o Develop and implement skill development processes to increase the capabilities of the technical maintenance workforce.
o Collaborate with leadership in delivery of skill development and coaching
o Update, develop, sustain and improve training and development for the salaried mill maintenance and hourly maintenance work force.
o Coordinate departmental resources to implement short and long-term strategies.
o Teach and coordinate equipment-specific training to support maintenance and reliability strategies.
o Identify barriers to advance our skill base and build strategies to overcome.
o Maintain training systems and content that meet reliability requirements and enable development of a safe, competent, reliability-focused workforce.
o Oversee training records collections, administration, and reporting to ensure timely and accurate training information.
o Develop evaluation process to gauge training effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will possess the following: Training and development experience in an industrial manufacturing facility; Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills; Presentation skills; Computer skills; Coaching methods for supervisors and production employees; Knowledge of how to gain access to resources for training materials development; Competency in training curriculum design and development, assessment of learning needs, implementation of a comprehensive training program that includes all aspects of training, development of professional development plans, and assessment of training results.

Basic Qualifications :
o High School diploma or equivalent
o 5 or more years of experience using precision maintenance practices/techniques.
o 3 or more years of training experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment.
o Experience with tracking training efforts and training curriculum development.


Preferred Qualifications :
o Experience working with Adobe Captivate Software, Articulate E-Learning Software, or Convergence Training Software systems.
o Technical Training certification or degree within a Training/Development field
o Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance concepts.
o Reliability or maintenance experience within the pulp and paper industry.
o Training experience within a pulp and paper mill environment.
